BEST OF SHOW!!

Last year I quilted a beautiful round robin for my friend, Lisa C. It was completed by a group of friends in 1995. Lisa always intended to put another border on it, but never got around to it. She asked me to quilt it for her last year. She entered it in the Winnemucca Crazy Quilters Quilt Show last weekend. It won best of show!

This is not the best picture of it...I have another on my work computer that I will post later.

Here are some detail shots:

Lisa C always gives me the best quilts to quilt...and she always has total confidence in my quilting. She makes my "job" easy!

Perfect Weekend!

I had the best birthday weekend! I spent most of it quilting! Actually, I can't use the longarm right now due to recent shoulder surgery. But I sure have been sewing like crazy! Saturday I finished putting together the blue and cream wedding ring quilt. Here's a pictue of part of the quilt:
It is a very traditional, two color quilt. I just love the wedding ring block. This quilt reminds me of Bozeman. The fabrics were purchased at Quilting in the Country, a fabulous shop a few miles outside Bozeman. I have absolutely no idea what I will do with this quilt...my house does not have a scrap of blue anywhere!

Sunday afternoon was spent working on a class sample for the invisible machine applique class I will be teaching in May. I decided to create a new sample, something fun. These little birds are so cute!
What is really exciting is a new product I used for the applique. It is fusible, wash-away stabilizer! No more cutting the back away like with freezer paper! It does have a softer edge than freezer paper, so it took a bit of getting used to. But I think the results will be worth the extra effort! I plan to offer my students a choice of using freezer paper or the stabilizer when I teach the class.
See, what better birthday weekend could a quilty girl ask for?

Looking for a Camera...

Today is my birthday (a big one) and I've asked my hubby for a new digital camera. The one I really want is a Sony A350 with interchangeable lenses. He about croaked at the price...but he did agree to a trip to the local camera shop to check it out. Happy Birthday to ME!!

Actually, I used to love photography in the 35mm days. Okay, so now I am really dating myself. But I hope to achieve that kind of quality photos from this new camera. I also am planning to get into thread painting, using photos as the base. Beth Wheeler's book "Altered Photo Artistry" outlines the process. Sounds like fun!
